Cats and dogs, like humans, are more prone to illness and ailments as they get older. New developments in diagnosis and treatments have meant that vets can give them even better care, which is great news for your family pet but means an increase in vet costs. A claim being paid can also cause your renewal price to increase significantly. Your excess will increase when your pet turns 9.
In 2017, we introduced a new excess structure based on previous claim history. Which is why if you have more than one pet, their excess may be different.
If you've never made a claim for your pet, they automatically moved to our new excess structure when their policy renewed. Meanwhile, if you made a claim for your pet, they remain on their existing excess.
