The device is smaller than a smart phone and is connected to your car’s OBD-II socket (on-board computer socket); this is usually found around the dashboard or footwell below the steering wheel.
The LOW MILER device will be sent in the post to your home address. This usually takes up to 5 days to arrive from the date you purchased your policy.
Once the device is fitted it will record information about how many miles you drive and where your car is kept overnight. We will send you updates weekly by email on your mileage used.
Yes, you can drive your car as soon as your policy has started.
However, it’s important you fit the LOW MILER device to your car as soon as you receive it in the post, or by the day your cover starts.
Don’t worry if you plug it in early, we won’t start to count your miles until your policy has started so you can fit the device straight away.
Your policy will be cancelled if the device is not fitted within 7 days of your cover starting.
If you were to have an accident when the device was not fitted then there is an additional excess of £500 which would apply along with any other compulsory and voluntary excess on your policy.
We will waive the additional excess if you have an accident before you receive your smart device. If an accident occurs after you receive the device, but it was not installed, then the additional excess will apply.
The LOW MILER device will be sent in the post to your home address.
It will be posted through your letterbox and will include a fitting instruction leaflet, so you can easily fit the device to your car.
