How to make a car insurance claim

Car parts shortages and repair delays

There is currently a shortage of car parts in the UK. Delays are often weeks but in some cases months, impacting how quickly our repairers can fix your car after making a claim.

In addition, there is also a national shortage of courtesy cars, which is leading to some delays in providing cars.

Our car repairers will keep you updated on the progress of your car repair, including any delays due to part shortages.

Claims with no injuries

You can make an online claim if you:

  • Have been involved in an accident and no one was injured
  • Need to make a theft, fire, vandalism, flood or storm claim

Before you call us

Accidents are upsetting, so when you find yourself involved in one, you can easily forget to note down the details required to make a claim.

Before you notify us of a claim it'd be helpful if you can have the following to hand:

  • Names, addresses and phone numbers of everyone involved in the incident, including passengers
  • Car details including registration numbers, make and model of all vehicles involved
  • Insurers' details and policy numbers
  • Details of whether the police attended or not
  • Digital photographs
  • Details of any witnesses

Let us know before arranging repairs or sorting out a replacement car.

If your car's been stolen, you'll need to notify the police and get a crime reference number.

What are you covered for?

Before you get in touch, you might find it helpful to check the following:

Your policy schedule - it lists who is insured on your policy, the cover options you chose, your unique policy number and personal detail you gave us.

Your policy cover excesses - your policy schedule lists the excesses payable when you make a claim.

What happens next?

After you've registered a claim, our team of experts will work hard to help you get you and your car back on the road. Our comprehensive cover includes a courtesy car as standard, and a lifetime guarantee on all repairs if you use one of our recommended repairers (excludes a write-off).
