Premier policies bought before 20 March 2022
If you took out a pet insurance policy with us before 20 March 2022, different limits may apply.
If your policy has both a total vet fee limit as well as a limit per accident or illness, then both these limits will apply until notified at renewal. Depending on the level of cover selected, your policy will either be subject to a total vet fee limit of £4,000 (with each accident or illness limited to £1,000 of vet treatment) or £12,000 (with each accident or illness limited to £4,000 of vet treatment) each year.
If your policy has a total vet fee limit only, then this will remain unchanged.
More details on the vet fees limits that apply to your policy can be found in your schedule, or on your policy documents. If you're unsure, get in touch.

The cost of cat insurance
- Age: older cats are more likely to experience health problems which can cause your cat insurance to increase in price.
- Breed: pedigree cats can be more expensive to insure and some breeds can be more prone to illnesses. This can impact the cost of your cat insurance.
- Cover: MORE THAN cat insurance offers 4 different cover level options to choose from. The cost of each option can vary in cost due to the level of cover given.
- Claims: cats are naturally adventurous creatures. Sometimes, their adventures can end in an injury or illness. If you need to make a claim on your cat insurance to help towards vet fees, your renewal price may increase as a result.
Cat insurance and vet fees
When your cat is unwell or gets an injury, cat insurance can help with vet fees letting you focus on getting your cat back on their paws. Our internal vets have shared some common cat accidents and illnesses and what they can cost you***.
“Hyperthyroidism is the most claimed disease in cats. It affects older cats and can be treated with medication, surgery, or radiation. The average cost is £1,234 based on 811 claims, with radiation treatment being significantly higher.”
“Urinary obstruction is a very painful condition where cats struggle urinate due to a blockage. Often found in young cats which requires urgent veterinary attention and is recurrent. The average cost is £1,788 based on 236 claims and often requires a short period of hospitalisation.”
“Cats love to go outside. But as they are territorial animals, they can get into fights with other cats. A bad flight could result in abscesses, liquid pockets of infection, developing from scratches or bites. These can be painful and need surgical intervention with an average cost of £466 based on 282 claims.”
