Our cover options
These cover options are not included as standard but you can add to your home policy:
Tell us about your valuable items
When getting a home quote, you need to tell us about your belongings worth over £1,000 you take out of the home. This is called specified item cover. You need to tell us about high-risk items too. These are items in the home that are more likely to be stolen such as jewellery, watches, TVs, computers, cameras and paintings.

Who is contents insurance for?
Contents insurance is not a legal requirement but is a good idea for many including:
Homeowners
By having contents cover you ensure your belongings in your home are covered too if the worst should happen.
Renters and lodgers
If you’re renting or living in a flat, you can buy home contents insurance to cover loss or damage.
Students
Making sure you take care of your belongings is really important. Buying contents cover for items, such as your mobile phone, laptop and clothes against theft, loss or damage can help avoid any unexpected expense.
For parents, there is the option to upgrade your contents cover and we'll give you up to £11,250 when your children go away to study, to cover their belongings, for example, going to university.
Landlords
As a landlord, it's important to have the right insurance. Home insurance doesn't always give you the right level of cover. Our landlord contents insurance ensures that your belongings in your property are insured if things go wrong.

Our Upgraded contents cover is rated 5 Star by Moneyfacts
Our Upgraded contents cover has been awarded a Moneyfacts 5 Star rating for 6 years running because of all our benefits. These include cover for:
- Loss or damage to items in your garden
- Your contents that you take temporarily away from your home
- A special event, such as a birthday or anniversary. We increase your contents cover by 10% one month before and after the event
How much contents insurance do I need?
We give you up to £100,000 contents cover as standard. It's easy to under insure your contents so it's important you have the right level of cover if the worst should happen.
The easiest approach is a pen and paper and going through each room. Don't forget curtains, blinds and carpets. We worry about our kitchen appliances but we forget that blind in the window. Another consideration is your clothes and shoes. It's surprising how quickly that all adds up. Our useful guide about how to calculate your contents can help make sure nothing gets missed.
For some items such as works of art, you will need to supply a valuation.
