Car insurance fees and charges

If you need to update your policy or your details, the following changes can be made online without incurring an admin fee.

  • Change of address
  • Change of additional driver details
  • Change of car

If you want to make these changes by calling our customer service centre, there’s a fee of £25 in addition to any change in premium.                                 

The following changes can’t be made online, so you’ll need to call our customer service centre.

  • Change of cover details
  • Temporary additional driver
  • Change of overnight location
  • Change of use
  • Temporary additional car

There’s a fee of £25 to make these changes in addition to any change in premium. Please note the administration fees include Insurance Premium Tax at the current rate.

If your policy number begins RSAP you can update the following online free of charge:

  • Change of use
  • Change of overnight location
  • Add optional covers

If you’re making multiple changes to your policy at the same time and only some of which are available online, please call Customer Services in the first instance to avoid multiple charges.

Any administration fee(s) charged will be displayed separately to your premium.

Updates to your policy may affect your premium.

We do not charge a fee to send your policy documents in the post.

If you wish to add another available cover; for example the Driving Abroad Extension, there will be no admin fee for adding this to your policy.

Cancellation Fees

Your/our right to cancel the policy within the statutory 14 day period:

If you/we cancel the policy within 14 days from your start date, you will not need to pay a cancellation fee.

Your/our right to cancel the policy outside of the statutory 14 day period:

Cancellation outside the 14 day period will result in a cancellation fee of £50 inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at the current rate.

Cancellation Terms:

If you pay monthly and the policy is cancelled:

  • If you've only made a windscreen or breakdown claim, you may be eligible for a refund. Subject to cancellation charge.
  • If you've made a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, you must pay us the rest of your premium for the period remaining up to the next renewal date.
  • If, since making a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, you have made an amendment to your policy which increased the premium, you may be eligible for a refund on this extra premium. Subject to cancellation charge.
  • The cancellation fee will be deducted from any refund of premium you may be due.

If you pay annually and the policy is cancelled:

  • If you've only made a windscreen or breakdown claim, you will receive a refund of a proportionate amount of any premiums already paid. Subject to cancellation charge.
  • If you've made a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, then no refund will be given.
  • If, since making a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, you have made an amendment to your policy which increased the premium, you may be eligible for a refund on this extra premium. Subject to cancellation charge.
  • The cancellation fee will be deducted from any refund of premium you may be due.
