Half term is just around the corner and there are plenty of places to take your family for a much needed break. So don’t sit around at home, make the most of half term and head off on holiday…

Family ski packages

February is a key time in the ski season and there are several top resorts that cater for families. Some even have childcare facilities for younger children (or grandchildren) so you can enjoy your time on the piste without worrying about the little ones. France’s La Rosiere, Tignes and Belle Plagne all have family ski facilities, as well as St. Anton in Austria, Gressony in Italy and even Canada’s Whistler. There’s plenty of opportunities to have fun on the slopes for you and the children!

City breaks

If you want to keep the costs down, heading to Europe doesn’t have to break the bank. A destination like Brussels is perfect to visit as it’s often less busy than other European cities over half term. Mechelen’s St-Rombout’s cathedral with its astonishing 318ft tower and ‘Skywalk’ offers great views of the Gothic architecture of the city and trains from Brussels take around 15 minutes!
Barcelona also works for families – children can roller-blade along the Marina whilst you sit back and relax. The FC Barcelona stadium is a magnet for football mad families. Other attractions include the Barcelona Aquarium – the largest of its kind in Europe, the Tibidabo Amusement Park and numerous shopping centres around the city – you won’t be short of things to do.

Mountain challenge

Finally, if your children are older and you fancy something a bit more adventurous, it’s worth considering Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. With 4 day trek packages on offer for families, stunning views and paths through traditional Berber Villages, it’s an ideal place to experience the beauty of another culture and keep active at the same time.
