Car Insurance cancellation charges and fees

If you’re unhappy with your policy please call the renewal line highlighted on your renewal paperwork. If we can’t solve your problem and you decide to leave us this year, please call us on the phone number below.  

Cancelling your policy

You can cancel your policy online if your policy is more than 14 days old and if you have not started a claim.

Just click the 'Online' tab below and log in to your online account. Then select the cancellation option. Only the policyholder can cancel the policy.

Cancellation charges

Your/our right to cancel the policy WITHIN the statutory 14 day period

If you/we cancel the policy within the first 14 days, you'll be charged a £25 fee inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at the current rate.

  • >The cancellation fee applies whether you pay annually or monthly.
  • >The cancellation fee will be deducted from any refund of premium you may be due.
  • >If you have already made a claim when you cancel, then no refund of premium will be made. 

Your/our right to cancel the policy OUTSIDE of the statutory 14 day period

If you cancel your policy after 14 days, you’ll be charged a £50 fee, inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at the current rate.

If you pay monthly and your policy is cancelled

  • >If you've only made a windscreen or breakdown claim, you may be eligible for a refund, subject to a cancellation charge.
  • >If you've made a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, you must pay us the rest of your premium for the period remaining up to the next renewal date.
  • >If, since making a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, you have made an amendment to your policy which increased the premium, you may be eligible for a refund on this extra premium, subject to a cancellation charge.

If you pay annually and your policy is cancelled 

  • >If you've only made a windscreen or breakdown claim, you will receive a refund of a proportionate amount of any premiums already paid, subject to a cancellation charge.
  • >If you've made a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, then no refund will be given.
  • >If, since making a claim for anything other than windscreen or breakdown, you have made an amendment to your policy which increased the premium, you may be eligible for a refund on this extra premium, subject to a cancellation charge.
  • >The cancellation fee will be deducted from any refund of premium you may be due.
