Can you explain my Car Insurance payment dates and deposit?

Your deposit

When you buy Car Insurance from us the deposit for your first year of cover (which is roughly the equivalent of 2 months' instalments) will go out within 24 hours.

The first monthly instalment will be collected within 14 days of the start date of the policy.

There will be 9 further instalments which will be collected on your chosen debit dates. 

If you make a change to your policy after your renewal date there may be some changes to your payment plan and the number of instalment payments.

Your payment dates

If you didn’t choose a Direct Debit payment date when you bought your policy, the default date for Direct Debit payments is the start date of your policy.

So for example if your policy starts on the 4th of the month then your debit payments will come out on the 4th of each month.

Your renewal

When you renew, you won't need to pay a deposit and your first payment will be taken 5 working days after the policy renewal date.

The remaining 11 payments will continue on the same date as your existing monthly payments.

As with changing your deposit, if you make a change to your policy after your renewal date there might be some changes to your payment plan and the number of instalment payments.

It's possible that, in the first month only, two instalment payments may be debited from your account - one 5 days after the renewal date and one on your chosen payment date.
