Snowboarding Travel Insurance
Need snowboarding travel insurance? We’ve got it covered.
So you want to be a ‘steezy’ rider, leaving the two-planks in the mashed potatoes?* If that’s not complete gibberish to you, sounds like you’re already on the way to mastering the skills of snowboarding. The good news is that with our Winter Sports Insurance upgrade you're covered for damage to your equipment, cancellation and piste closure. Take a look at our Winter Sports Insurance page for more info. You can also read the policy details to get the full low-down on snowboarding travel insurance, for example you'll need to keep to recognised slopes and routes to be covered.(* Steezy means combining ‘skill with ease’, a two plank is a skier and mashed potatoes are snow!)
Get ready to snurf?
It could all have been so different... the first snowboard was the Snurfer, designed in Michigan in 1965 - basically a skateboard without wheels that you controlled with a rope. The world’s first Snurfing Championships were held in 1979, where a new kid on the block showed up with a rope-less board and well, the rest is history. A thrilling blend of skiing, surfing and skateboarding, it took until 1998 for the sport to be acknowledged by the Olympic committee and taken on as an official sport in the Winter Olympiad.
Jump on and improve your skills
Many hardcore boarders believe that the only way to learn to snowboard is by getting on the slopes and learning yourself. The secret to great snowboarding is practice, practice and more practice. The most important element for successful snowboarding is balance; try skateboarding when you’re not on the slopes - or yoga to improve your abilities. Seasoned snowboarders also recommend checking out other boarders’ moves so learn while you relax watching videos or uploads on youtube.
