Skydiving Insurance

Need skydiving cover?

Make a leap of faith at 4,000 feet with the comfort of skydiving cover. Despite its daredevil image, injuries from sky diving are relatively uncommon, but if you’re planning to take the leap, it’s crucial that you learn to skydive with an accredited school – in the UK skydive schools should be affiliated to the British Parachuting Association. Many insurance policies won’t cover you for injury or accident if you take part in more adventurous sports. To ensure you have sky diving travel insurance from More Than you just need to take our optional ‘special sports and activities cover’ and pay an additional premium. It’s important to read the small print too as you will have to pay an increased excess and some elements of cover (for example personal liability and long term incapacity) will not be covered. Read the policy details to get the full low-down on skydive cover.

Just do it

Surprisingly, skydiving isn’t a new sport. Andre-Jaques Garnerin jumped from a hot-air balloon with a parachute in 1797, but it took another 100 years (and the development of the first aircraft!) before it took off as a competitive sport in the 1930s. Although the actual dive itself may be a relatively short experience with the free-fall lasting around a minute and then the slow drift towards the ground clocking in around 5 minutes, the euphoria will last for days.

Jump on in and improve your skills

In freefall, once you’ve perfected the basic “arch” position, you can start to experiment with turns, lifts and propelling yourself forward and backwards by learning how the shape of your body affects your fall. If you like the idea of creating amazing sequences with other divers try formation skydiving for a sociable adrenaline rush.

Top spots to take a leap
