Scuba Diving Travel Insurance
Need scuba diving cover? Look no further
It’s often described as the next best thing to being able to fly. Scuba diving introduces you to a world of wonder and magic under the waves whilst experiencing the thrilling sensation of weightlessness. Before you set off on your adventure, it’s important to have travel insurance including scuba diving. The good news is that for scuba diving travel insurance - UK and overseas - MORE TH>N has you covered. And you don't have to worry about paying an extra premium for your scuba diving travel insurance either - with your More Than travel insurance policy you’re covered already for dives up to 30 metres (for dives between 30-40 metres you will need to pay an additional premium,). It's important to read the small print however, as you may have to pay an excess and some elements of cover (for example personal liability and long term incapacity) will not be covered. Read the policy details to get the full low-down on scuba diving holiday travel insurance.
Just keep breathing!
The first divers were severely limited in where they could go, as they had to rely on air pumped through a line which was attached to the boat. It wasn’t until 1943 when the great Jacques Cousteau and his colleague Emile Gagnan invented the first free-swimming breathing apparatus, the aqualung, and the free-form activity of scuba began as we know it today.
Jump in and improve your skills!
There various recognised professional qualifications for scuba in the UK, perhaps the most well known being PADI which has thousands of centres around the world. You could learn before you go in a pool in the UK or combine a learn/dive experience on your holiday. It’s easy to get the bug and once you do there’s a wealth of skills to master from night diving to wreck diving.
Top spots to try it out
There’s almost certainly nowhere on earth more wonderful to dive than on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Cairns is full of scuba schools and a stay on a ‘live-aboard’ boat out on the reef is unbeatable. Closer to home, Egypt’s Sharm el Sheikh is a renowned diving hub with beautiful coral gardens and wrecks. To experience the tropical waters of the Caribbean and the mesmerising ‘cenote’ caverns of Cozumel, head to the Mayan Riviera of Mexico.
