No. Unlike some policies, which limit treatment to within 12 months, MORE TH>N pet insurance will continue to support your claim for as long as the treatment takes, up to £7,000 whilst you remain insured with us.

My pet's not a recognised breed will you insure him?

Yes, our insurance is designed to cover ALL types of cats and dogs. That's because your cross-breed is just as likely to cause an accident as a pedigree, any type of pet can stray or go missing and of course, vet's bills don't take pedigree into account. What's more, the policy also covers the purchase price of your pet - whether they were bought from a pedigree breeder or a rescue centre.

Do you stop offering cover as my pet gets older?

No, and we don't refuse cover for senior pets either. Once your pet's policy has been issued, they can be covered for life. The only benefit that stops is when your pet is 9 years old, we won't give you back the purchase price if they die or have to be put to sleep through illness or natural causes. All other benefits continue.

My pet has had medical problems in the past – will you still be able to offer cover?

As with all pet insurance, if your pet currently suffers from a medical condition, or has had one in the past, your policy will not cover this condition in the future, nor any condition which your Vet advises is related.

If you have any concerns about whether your pet is likely to be accepted, call us on freephone 0800 300 939 (please quote reference PETNET).

Will all my vet's bills be covered?

No. Pet Insurance is there for the unexpected, so it's important to be aware that routine costs - for vaccinations, boosters, worming treatment, nail-clipping and so on - won't be covered. Your pet will be covered for new medical problems but not for anything that first arose before you took out the policy.

You'll find full details of what's covered and what's not covered in the policy wording.

Will there be any delays if I have to claim for treatment by a vet?

No, you can look forward to prompt and fuss-free claims service from us. If you'd like a claims form, you can contact us by freepost, telephone or email. We'll post the claim form immediately and this should be filled out by your vet. As long as we've got all the details we need, most claims are processed on the day the form is received.

If you have any problems or queries, our staff are knowledgeable and helpful. You may also find it useful to download the policy wording.

If I claim, will that affect my insurance?

Generally, no. Many insurance companies add exclusions when you renew your policy but we won't add extra ones after you've made a claim. In fact, once we've accepted liability for an illness or injury you can carry on claiming up to the maximum amount of benefit for that illness or injury - however long that takes, so long as you remain insured with us.

Special conditions are only added if you claim the maximum amount of benefit for a particular condition. You'll find more detailed information in the policy wording.

What amount will I have to pay as an excess?

For veterinary treatment claims you pay an amount towards the cost of treating each illness or injury each year. The amounts are as follows and apply at the time of treatment:

Dogs under 9 years old £70
Dogs 9 years old and over £70 + 20% of the rest of the cost of treatment.

Cats under 9 years old £50
Cats 9 years old and over £50 + 20% of the rest of the cost of treatment.

The 20% of the rest of the cost of treatment applies to the amount left of the treatment costs after the £70 for dogs or £50 for cats has been deducted.

For third party liability claims (for dogs only), you pay £200 towards the cost of any claim for damage to property.
