Tenants Improvements
On occasions a tenant might carry out some improvements to their rented home at their own cost (e.g. fitted wardrobes, fitted cupboards or shelves). These items belong to the tenant and not the landlord so will NOT be covered under the landlord's buildings insurance.
It may be possible to include tennants improvement cover under your Home insurance policy. The Buildings & Contents cover includes loss or damage to fixed tenants' improvements and internal decorations up to a value of £6,000 caused by Fire, Flood, Escape of water, Riot, Malicious damage, Theft, Subsidence, Falling trees, Branches, Satellite equipment, Aerials and Collision involving aircraft. And is subject to the usual exclusions of the Buildings cover section.
