Car resources & help forums

Got a major passion for cars? If so, where's the best place to indulge it online? We asked motoring journalists Steve Parker, Chris Pollitt, Mark Dishman and Paul Walton about their favourite motoring websites.

One site I find myself returning to time and again is www.FIA.com - the official website of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile. Not only is the FIA the sanctioning body for Formula 1, World Rally, Touring Car and other major international racing series, but the group is also intimately connected to driving and safety rules and regulations around the world, sponsoring a worldwide Safe Driving Campaign and partnering with governments and the world's major car-makers in research and development of the performance and safety of the cars and roads of the future.
Steve Parker

Pistonheads.com is a great website for keeping up to date with all the latest news from the motor industry and the world of Motorsport and, of course, there are pages upon pages of classified cars for sale - I choose to ignore the fact I can't afford a Ferrari and look anyway! The site also has interesting features covering all aspects of the motoring world, including industry and political issues - it's a good way to lose a few hours.
Chris Pollitt

The best place for motorsport information is www.autosport.com. Autosport magazine has long been a reliable racing resource, and its website is excellent, particularly at delivering the latest news first. I also highly recommend visiting www.sniffpetrol.com, which is a witty, if irregularly updated, satirical look at the world of cars and motorsport with an entertaining Twitter feed to accompany Formula 1 races.
Mark Dishman

The most useful website for those looking to buy a car is www.drivethedeal.com, a powerful search engine that finds the best deals through UK main dealers. The reason it is so good is that it's so simple. Just input the car you're interested in, specify the actual model and the website does the rest, coming back with the best deal it can find and the money saved on the car's list price.
